During his visit to Vietnam, Russian President Putin met with President To Lam and others and agreed to deepen cooperation.
7年ぶりにベトナムを訪れたプーチン大統領は20日、トー・ラム国家主席らと会談し、貿易やエネルギーなど幅広い分野で両国の関係を強化していくことを確認しました。　
On the 20th, President Putin, who visited Vietnam for the first time in 7 years, met with President To Lam and others, and affirmed that the two countries will strengthen relations in many fields, including trade and energy.
プーチン大統領は「ロシアがベトナムとの協力関係を重視し、関係が着実に発展し続けることを強調する」としています。　
President Putin said: "Russia values its cooperative relationship with Vietnam and emphasized that this relationship will continue to develop sustainably."
ベトナムは伝統的にロシアと友好関係にある一方、近年は中国との南シナ海の領有権争いを牽制する形でアメリカとも関係を強めています。　
Although Vietnam has traditionally had friendly relations with Russia, in recent years the country has also strengthened its relationship with the United States to control territorial disputes with China in the East Sea.
こうしたなか、プーチン大統領は改めて存在感を示すとともに、国際社会にもベトナムとの関係性をアピールする狙いがあるとみられます。
In that situation, President Putin seems to want to once again demonstrate his presence and call attention from the international community to his relationship with Vietnam.
