フェイスブックが許可なくユーザーの位置情報を追跡して利用していたとして訴えられた裁判で、原告側に約50億円を支払うことで和解したと明らかになりました。

原告は位置サービスをオフにしていたにもかかわらず、フェイスブックが位置情報を取得して的を絞った広告を送っていたと主張しています。
Plaintiffs allege that Facebook was acquiring their location data and sending them targeted ads, even though they had turned off location services.
メタ社はこの行為を否定しているものの、和解には応じた形です。

和解金を受け取ることができる対象は2015年から18年にアメリカに居住し、フェイスブックを利用していた約7000万人とみられています。
The target audience is about 70 million people who lived in the US for 18 years from 2015 and used Facebook.
