NECは地雷が埋められた場所をAIが高い精度で予測する技術を開発したと発表しました。　
NEC announced that it had developed a technology that allows AI to predict where mines had been be buried with high accuracy.
NECがICRC＝赤十字国際委員会と共同で開発した技術は、AIが地形や建物の位置、住民からの情報などを基に地雷の場所を予測します。　
The technology, developed by NEC in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross = ICRC, uses AI to predict the location of land mines based on topography, location of buildings, and information from residents.
過去に紛争があった地域を対象にした去年の実証実験では、実際に地雷が埋められていた場所と一致した割合は90％に上ったということです。　
In a field test conducted last year in a past conflict zone, 90% of the mines found matched the actual location where the mines were buried.
これまで、地雷の除去は専門家が経験則などに基づいて予測していましたが、多くの手間と時間がかかることが課題となっていました。　
Until now, landmine clearance has been predicted by experts based on rules of thumb and other factors, but this has been a challenge because it requires a lot of time and effort.
NECでは今年度中にこの技術を製品化し、各国の政府などに提供する方針で、ウクライナでも活用される可能性があるということです。
NEC plans to commercialize this technology by the end of this fiscal year and provide it to governments and other organizations in various countries, and there is a possibility that it will also be used in Ukraine.
