全国有数のスイカの産地・千葉県富里市で「スイカロードレース」が4年ぶりに行われました。　
For the first time in four years, the "Watermelon Road Race" was held in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture, one of the leading watermelon growing areas in Japan.
富里市で行われたスイカロードレースは、スイカを好きなだけ食べて走れることで人気です。　
The Watermelon Road Race held in Tomisato City is popular because people can eat and run as much watermelon as they like.
一般の10キロのコースと小中学生の1.5キロのコースに分かれ、約6000人が参加しました。　
Approximately 6,000 people participated in the event, which was divided into a 10-kilometer course for the general public and a 1.5-kilometer course for elementary and junior high school students.
大会名物の給水所ならぬ「給スイカ所」では、地元の「富里スイカ」が振舞われました。　
At the "watermelon station," a special feature of the event, local "Tomisato watermelons" were served.
仲間とおそろいのスイカの格好で参加したランナーも多く、4年ぶりの開催を思い思いの形で楽しんでいました。　
Many athletes wore watermelon costumes with their friends and enjoyed the event for the first time in four years in their own way.
この大会で用意されたスイカは1500玉以上で、参加したランナーは疲れた体に甘い初夏の味を頬張りながら、それぞれのゴールをかみ締めていました。
More than 1,500 watermelons were prepared for this event, and the participating runners chewed their way to their respective goals while enjoying the sweet taste of early summer on their tired bodies.
