A man with a knife struck a passerby on 15 days in central Filach, southern Austria, killing a 14-year-old boy and injured four people.
The suspect was 23 years old and Syrian national, and was currently applying for asylum.
According to local media, the grocery delivery driver who witnessed the incident raided the suspect in a car to prevent the spread of damage.
The man has since been arrested and investigated, but no details have been revealed, including the cause of his crimes.
Although the connection to the incident is unknown, several European countries, including Austria, have suspended decisions on asylum applications for Syrian nationalities due to political turmoil caused by the collapse of Assad's regime.
