Dougo Onsen is hanging “sudare” for summer preparations
愛媛県松山市の道後温泉は、歴史がある有名な温泉です
Ehime prefecture, Matsuyama city’s Dougo Onsen is a famous onsen with history.
道後温泉本館では、夏、窓の外側に「すだれ」を掛けます
In summer, Dougo Onsen hangs outside-facing “sudare” screens in the windows.
すだれは、「あし」という草で作ります
Sudare is made with reed grass.
When the sudare are hung, they don’t let the strong sunlight in and let the wind pass through them.
2日、市の職員などが、250枚ぐらいのすだれを建物のまわりに掛けました
In two days, city employees hung roughly 250 sudare around fhe building.
旅行で来た女性は「きれいだなと思います
Women traveling to the onsen said they thought it was pretty.
“Thanks to the sudare, it feels cool inside,”said the women.
