Chitose City, Hokkaido is the number one increase in land prices for the fourth consecutive year.
Land prices nationwide as of January this year have been announced
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the land prices at approximately 25,500 locations nationwide as of January 1st this year were 2.7% for all uses, plus 2.1% for residential areas, and plus 3.9% for commercial areas, compared to a year ago.
The rate of rise is still low compared to the level of the bubble period, but it is the highest since 1991.
The rapid increase in foreign visitors to Japan has made the number of tourist destinations and resorts more noticeable, and the number has also increased significantly in areas where semiconductor manufacturing plants have expanded and areas where redevelopment is progressing.
The highest in the nation was in commercial areas, Chitose City, Hokkaido (48.8%), and Furano City, Hokkaido (31.3%), also in residential areas.
The highest land prices were in Ginza 4-chome, Tokyo for the 19th consecutive year (Yamano Musical Instruments Ginza Main Store), with a price of 60.5 million yen (up 8.6%) per square meter.
